Miraj is a city blessed with legendary singers & actors, one of them was Balgandharva or Narayan Shripad Rajhans a legendary stage actor & singer. He made his stage debut in Miraj. After his death, the same theatre where he debuted was named after him in the late 1960’s. But the theatre was left in a poor condition thereafter.

Thus to honour the legendary actor, it was decided to build a world class auditorium of the same name of 900 seating capacity. The auditorium comprised state of the art HVAC systems & equally great interiors. The project was inaugurated by then CM Late Shri Vilasrao Ji Deshmukh &highly appreciated by Hon’ble Nitin Gadkari Ji when he was on a visit to Miraj City in 2008 & also expressed his desire to construct an auditorium on the lines of Balgandhrva Natyamdir in his constituency at Nagpur.
